Jessica Kirson (step-sister of Zach Braff) is an out lesbian who was one of three women to perform at the Riyadh Comedy Festival. She performed on Monday, September 29. On Friday, October 3, she issued a statement to the Hollywood Reporter saying that she expresses her "sincere regret for having performed under a government that continues to violate fundamental human rights." She said that when she was contacted about performing at the festival, she asked for a guarantee that she could be "openly out as a lesbian on stage and perform gay material" so that LGBTQ+ people in Saudie Arabie would "feel seen and valued."
