Glasgow's city centre is "in decline" as the city was named among ugliest in the country as part of a long-standing award recognising Scotland's 'most dismal' towns.

Glasgow joined the likes of Port Glasgow, Ayr and Hamilton in the running for the 'Plook on the Plinth' Carbuncle trophy.

As reported by the Daily Record , Port Glasgow was eventually crowned the "most dismal" town in Scotland as part of the controversial awards but it didn't stop Glasgow, the only city in the running from catching flack for the state of one of its most famous shopping streets.

Urban Realm , which is the magazine responsible for the Carbuncle Awards, shared the opinion of one Glasgow local. The resident harshly criticised Scotland's biggest city, describing its city centre as a "disgrace".
