A person was struck and killed by a Long Island Rail Road train on Saturday afternoon, prompting multiple delays on the Babylon line, according to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.

Joana Flores, an MTA spokesperson, said the incident was reported at 2:20 p.m. Service was partially suspended between Freeport and Babylon for about two hours Saturday while police responded to the crash.

According to a status alert, the person was struck west of Amityville.

No further information about the victim was available.

The suspension was lifted at 4:34 p.m., but officials said riders could experience residual delays.
