UK holidaymakers travelling to Tenerife will soon face a new charge to visit a popular tourist attraction.

Tenerife, the largest island in the Canary Islands , is a popular tourist hotspot due to its year-round warm weather and pretty much constant sunshine.

Located on the island of Tenerife is Mount Teide, which is Spain’s highest peak and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Tenerife's council has been planning to impose a tax for climbing the mountain as part of a wider plan to protect the island’s most visited natural treasure, reports Spanish news site Canarian Weekly.
