One of Melbourne’s most respected lawyers, David Galbally, has died suddenly at the age of 74, shocking his family and friends.
The prominent barrister passed away on Saturday morning after going in for a routine medical check-up. He had been suffering from early onset dementia and a range of other conditions.
During his distinguished career, Galbally was involved in numerous high-profile trials and became a familiar face to the public through his regular appearances on Seven News and radio programmes.
His four children and wife were all able to be with him as he passed away.
In a statement to Seven News, his family described him as “a devoted husband, father and grandfather to nine”, noting his distinguished career and love for the Collingwood Football Club.
