ANDERSON, S.C. (WSPA) - Two people were transported to the hospital after an incident at an Anderson church.
According to Anderson Fire Department, at around 10:56 a.m. Sunday firefighters were called to St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church in Anderson. Fire officials said church members attempting to make lunch tried to light a gas stove, causing a small explosion in the kitchen.
Two people were transported to the hospital with unspecified injuries, though the fire department said they were stable at the time they were transported.
Firefighters cleared the kitchen and shut off gas to the equipment. There was some minor damage to the kitchen, but the church was able to reopen and services able to resume Sunday morning.
