SACRAMENTO, Calif. —

Sacramento Republic FC hosted Hartford Athletic in the Jagermeister Cup final in front of a sellout crowd at Heart Health Park on Saturday, aiming to secure their first championship since 2014.

In the fourth minute, Rodrigo López sent a right-footed shot from outside the box, but it was blocked. The match remained scoreless until the 51st minute when Samuel Careaga, of Hartford, connected from long distance off a corner kick to score the first goal of the match.

Sacramento continued searching for the equalizer, and in the 87th minute, Lewis Jamieson sent a cross that led to Sebastian Herrera's header, which was saved. Herrera was eventually ejected from the game after two yellow cards.

Hartford Athletic took the Jagermeister Cup championship with a 1-0 win.
