ORANGEBURG, S.C. — State agents have made one arrest in connection with shootings and gunfire reported at South Carolina State University on Saturday night.

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division said that 18-year-old Matthew Daniel McCoy of Richland County was charged with pointing and presenting a firearm at a person and carrying a weapon on school property. He was arrested on Sunday.

Warrants provided by SLED suggest McCoy was at South Carolina State University on Saturday night when he brought a Glock handgun with him under the passenger seat of his vehicle and parked on the campus.

Investigators allege he saw a fight between two groups and retrieved the gun from his car before firing it about two times at an unidentified male. Warrants state he admitted to firing the gun durin
