TUSCALOOSA, Ala. ( WBRC ) - The woman charged with attempted murder in a shooting at the University of Alabama (UA) Arboretum is now being charged with murder due to her victim dying from his injuries.

Tuscaloosa Police and University of Alabama Police responded to a shooting call at the UA Arboretum around 1 p.m. Sept. 29.

Authorities found a man who had been shot during a domestic argument. He was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Neither the victim nor the suspect, later identified as 41-year-old Jone Bates, are affiliated with the university. The arboretum is located east of the university’s main campus.

The Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Offices Violent Crimes Unit (VCU) identified the man Bates’ shot as 39-year-old Dwight Contrell Tanker.
