Prosecutors filed misdemeanour charges Sunday against former NFL quarterback Mark Sanchez for his alleged role in an incident early Saturday morning in Indianapolis in which police said he was stabbed by a 69-year-old employee of a cooking oil recycling company.

Sanchez, 38, was charged with battery resulting in bodily injury, unauthorized entry of a motor vehicle and public intoxication, Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears announced Sunday morning. Sanchez was hospitalized following the incident and did not work as scheduled as the analyst on the Fox broadcast of Sunday’s game between the Indianapolis Colts and Las Vegas Raiders at Lucas Oil Stadium in downtown Indianapolis, blocks from where the alleged incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. Saturday.
