A New Jersey man is facing charges after he fatally struck a 26-year-old man and critically injured his three-year-old son with his minivan in East Orange on Saturday, the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office said.
The driver, Kadeem Robinson, 34, of Bloomfield has been charged with first-degree vehicular homicide within 1,000 feet of a school, two counts of second-degree assault by auto while DWI within 1,000 feet of a school and fourth degree assault by auto.
Brian Hope, of East Orange, was crossing South Grove Street with his son at about 10:06 p.m. when they were hit by the vehicle, authorities said.
Hope was pronounced dead after midnight at University Hospital in Newark, where his son remains in critical condition, according to the prosecutor’s office.
