A map from Great Smoky Mountains National Park predicts most of Montana will experience peak fall foliage in early to mid-October this year.
Travelers hoping to see peak colors in western Montana should make plans soon, while those heading to the eastern half of the state have a bit more time, according to the park's 2025 fall foliage prediction map.
The map, described on the park’s website as a visual planning guide, tracks the annual progression of changing leaves across the country. “While no tool can be 100% accurate, this tool is meant to help travelers better time their trips to have the best opportunity of catching peak color each year,” the site states.
