Could gas prices soon be cheaper in San Diego County? Assembly Bill 30 was signed into law by California Gov. Gavin Newsom on Thursday and could do just that.
California gas stations now have the green light to start selling the E15 fuel blend. It contains 15% ethanol, and a study by UC Berkeley found that it could cut the price of gas by 20 cents per gallon.
“The goal here is to help save money for people because of the cost of living,” Assemblyman David Alvarez (D-San Diego), who authored the bill, told NBC 7 on Friday. “And we've seen that this could save up 20 cents per gallon, which, everything adds up, and everybody's looking to find ways to save money.”
While the new blend makes its way to the pump, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) will continue its study to see if E15
