In an unfortunate incident, a violent clash broke out between police and the protesters at Dargah Bazar in Cuttack on Sunday when demonstrators confronted the police. As per reports, more than six police officials, including the DCP and the Dargah Bazar police station IIC, were injured, along with some media personnel.
Police resorted to lathi-charge to disperse the protestors while they were trying to advance. Various organisations protested when the police tried to halt the processions following disturbances over Durga idol immersion.
In response, the Cuttack Commissionerate police formed special teams to identify and apprehend the agitators. Three special teams were constituted under the supervision of Police Commissioner S Dev Datta Singh, who directed officers to identify the protes
