WARREN COUNTY Ky. (WBKO) - With October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Warren County Fire Department transitioned from their traditional blue shirt to a pink shirt that honors loved ones who are battling breast cancer.
It is a personal cause for many in the agency, as many have family members who are battling cancer.
That is why the agency implemented a hood replacement program.
The program ensures that firefighters who encounter conditions deemed “Immediately dangerous to life or health” will receive a clean hood while their worn one is washed and returned.
Although a new program, Chief Bill Rector says that he hopes the program is successful in mitigating the risk of cancer for firefighters.
