Early on a September Saturday, a superintendent, a principal and an assistant principal knocked on the doors of the last known addresses of a handful families, trying to figure out why their students didn’t reenroll for the 2025-26 school year.

Every year, hundreds of students walk out of their Corpus Christi Independent School District schools in the spring and don’t come back the next fall.
