NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) — As the government shutdown heads into its second work week, President Trump and lawmakers appear to be resigned to a deadlock.

There is no known progress on a deal that would reopen the government in the near future. It’s open up the government or else.

That’s the message from Senate Majority Leader John Thune to the Democratic leadership as day five of the government shutdown looms. Members of the New York Democratic delegation held a press conference on the steps of City Hall.

Their goal is to convey the message of what they see as the harmful impacts of the GOP's healthcare cuts and the looming expiration of the Affordable Care Act's tax credits. At least five different Democratic leaders spoke at the rally.
