GALVESTON – A search is underway for a swimmer who went missing at Galveston beach on Sunday morning.

Chief Austin Kirwin, with Galveston Island Beach Patrol, said they responded to a call at 11:57 a.m. about a missing swimmer in the water at 73rd and Seawall Boulevard.

Galveston Beach Patrol, police department, fire department, EMS, and USCG responded.

The swimmer has been identified as a 21-year-old man from Richmond, Texas.

Red flags are flying at the beach due to rough water.
