Man dies after crash, police chase near Creighton, Sask.

Saskatchewan RCMP are investigating fatal crash in Creighton, Sask, that happened following a police chase.

Police say they received a report of an assault inside a home in the community in the early morning of Oct. 4. After they arrived, they determined that a woman had been assaulted by a man, who had then forcefully taken her away in a vehicle, according to a Sunday news release.

After a search, police soon found the vehicle and tried to initiate a traffic stop. The vehicle didn't slow down, leading to a chase that ended with police using spikes to pop the vehicle's tires, the release said.

The vehicle crashed into a nearby building and the driver, a man, then fled.
