Honolulu firefighters rescued an injured mountain biker this morning on the Ohana Trail in Maunawili.
The Honolulu Fire Department received a 911 call at 10:21 a.m. about the injured man and sent six units staffed with 19 personnel, according to a news release.
The first unit arrived on the scene 12 minutes later and ascended the trail by foot to search for the man on the trail. Other units secured a nearby landing zone to prepare for an aerial search and rescue operation.
The man in his 60s was reportedly injured while mountain biking and was unable to descend the trail on his own. Rescuers made contact with him at 11:08 a.m. and performed a medical assessment.
An Air 1 helicopter safely airlifted the man to a nearby landing zone at 12:02 p.m.
No other injuries were reported.
