MERIDIAN TWP, Mich. (WILX) -Community members in Meridian Twp. got the chance to check out the Eaton Rapids Twp Fire Department on Sunday.

Those who attended the event got the chance to see firefighters highlight the concerns of lithium-ion batteries and how people can use them.

The open house also allowed the firefighters to give mock ability tests for kids, which is the test that firefighters go through twice a year.

People who attended also got the chance to try on firefighter equipment and try out the fire hoses.

Michael Hamel, who’s the Fire Chief for Meridian Twp. Fire Department talked about how the open house helps provide an understanding of what they do in the community.
