HERMISTON, Ore. – The City of Hermiston is mourning the loss of Ed Brookshier, who served as city manager from 1991 to 2014.
His leadership played a critical role in the city's growth and development, the city said in a release.
Brookshier's efforts in establishing the Regional Water System supported businesses that have invested more than $6 billion in the community. His work attracted major employers including the Wal-Mart Distribution Center and Corteva Agrisciences, providing thousands of local jobs.
His dedication to moving the fairgrounds out of downtown led to the creation of the Eastern Oregon Trade & Event Center. This venue now hosts significant events such as the Umatilla County Fair and Farm-City Pro Rodeo.
