Syracuse, N.Y. — The temperature hit 85 degrees Sunday in Syracuse, tying the record for the date.
The reading of 85 degrees came at 3:30 p.m., according to the National Weather Service’s daily climate report. Official measurements are taken at Syracuse Hancock International Airport.
The reading ties the record for Oct. 5, which was set in 2023.
The warm, dry weather has state officials worried. A statewide burn ban is in effect through Oct. 15. Much of Upstate New York is also under a drought warning .
