Gov. Tina Kotek said on Sunday afternoon that 101 soldiers from the California National Guard are stationed at Camp Withycombe, an Oregon Military Department facility in Clackamas County, and another 99 troops from Oregon’s southern neighbor are on their way, after President Trump ordered their deployment.

Kotek said the federal government has provided no information about the mission of the California National Guard’s deployment to Oregon. But the governor said she believes the president is trying to circumvent a federal judge’s ruling on Saturday that temporarily blocked Trump’s deployment of the Oregon National Guard to control protests outside a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility in Portland.
