THOMASVILLE, N.C. — A person died Sunday evening after a shooting off of National Highway in Thomasville.

According to the Thomasville Police Department, officers responded to the 1400 block of National Highway near Burger King at approximately 6:47 p.m. on Sunday in response to a shooting. When they arrived on scene, officers located one person suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

Thomasville Police said the person injured in the shooting died at the scene. Police also say the suspected shooter is cooperating with investigators, but no one is in custody.
