SCRANTON, Pa. — Pennsylvania brought together nurses, healthcare workers, and community activists to the steps of Scranton City Hall in Lackawanna County .

To call on lawmakers to protect health coverage for all Pennsylvanians amidst the federal government shutdown.

Dwayne Heisler, the Campaign Director at The Pennsylvania Policy Center, spoke on the significance of the candles as well as the vigil itself.

"We're here with 245 candles. Each one of those candles represents 1000 Pennsylvanians. It represents a family. Represents a story that matters. We believe that Republicans in Congress, who control the House, the Senate, and the presidency, should prioritize everyday Pennsylvanians and everyday Americans, making sure that health care is affordable."
