LOUISVILLE, Ky. —

One of the nation’s biggest art fairs wrapped its 69th show with thousands turning out to see more than 600 artists from across the United States, exhibiting work in 17 different mediums at the St. James Art Show.

Among the returning artists was acrylic abstract painter Maryann Palmgren, who said the event is something she crosses state lines for each year.

“I’m an abstract artist. So, even when I do realism, I abstract it a little bit,” Palmgren said. “But I grew up on the coast of South Carolina, and we’re from Charleston, so we drive up to Charleston every year.”

For Palmgren, it’s the community that makes the show special.
