Here are some observations from the Tigers' 3-2 loss to the Seattle Mariners in Game 2 of the American League division series at T-Mobile Park in Seattle on Sunday:

M's make it a series

As much as the Tigers had a big edge after taking the series opener, the Mariners got themselves one heck of a boost after taking Game 2 ― against Tigers ace Tarik Skubal. The Mariners didn't do much offensively against Skubal, but they made their hits count, most notably two hits by slugger Jorge Polanco, the former Minnesota Twins mainstay who hit a pair of home runs off Skubal. The first one came on a Skubal slider in the fourth inning, just the third homer Skubal has allowed on a slider all year, and first since May.
