Mariners' Jorge Polanco exemplifies a playoff superhero for Seattle

Eight Seattle Mariners couldn't touch Tarik Skubal on Sunday night.

Good thing Jorge Polanco was in the lineup.

Polanco proved himself a true playoff superhero as the Mariners beat the Detroit Tigers and their ace, 3-2, to even the ALDS at a game apiece.

This shaped up as a potential nightmare scenario. The Mariners had already dropped the first game of the series in 11 innings, and now they had to face the best pitcher in the American League in Game 2 of a best-of-five. It had the potential to get late early for Seattle.

But Polanco, batting from the right side as a switch-hitter against the lefty Skubal, homered to get the Mariners on the board.

And then he homered again to make it 2-0 o
