A rabbi was assaulted in Bergenfield Sunday afternoon by a man who bolted from his car and attacked the victim in the area of Sussex Road, police say.
Bergenfield police apprehended a suspect, Jeffrey Zicchinella, 40, shortly after the 2 p.m. attack and charged the Ridgefield Park resident with two counts of simple assault.
Bergenfield Police Chief Mustafa Rabboh said in a statement that a nearby resident came to the aid of the victim and both suffered minor injuries. The chief did not identify the victim but referred to him as a “faith leader.”
