Kare Adenegan relished the pressure of a red-hot battle for silver after coming away with a third World Championship medal in New Delhi.

The Coventry wheelchair racer, 24, completed a hat-trick of silvers in the T34 800m but didn’t have it all her own way at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.

As British teammate Hannah Cockroft claimed a third Indian gold and 19 th world title, Adenegan and Chinese athlete Lan Hanyu were locked in a tight tussle behind.

And it was Adenegan who won it, crossing the line in a season’s best time of 2:03.91 to win an eighth World Championship medal.
