LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- October 7 marks two years since Hamas' assault on Israel. 1,200 lives were lost that day, and Israel's counter-attack has since devastated Gaza. In the Las Vegas valley, the community gathered Sunday in support of the hostages in the first-ever "Run For Their Lives" candlelight vigil held at UNLV's amphitheater.

The event brought in dozens, many of whom wore red in solidarity. It was the first time the Henderson and Summerlin chapters of the "Run for their Lives" organization banded together to host an event.

“I hope that they understand that it's important to have some empathy and compassion and caring for those who are in a situation like this,” said Elizabeth Breier, who leads the Henderson ‘Run for Their Lives’ chapter.
