On October 18, snow could be falling at a rate of 10cm per hour in the Scottish Highlands, with a total snow depth of around 25cm expected by 6pm, according to the weather maps.
The snow is likely to begin from around 7pm on Friday, October 17 - before intensifying over the weekend of October 18 and October 19. The projections come as the UK recovers from Storm Amy, with the flurries likely to last for 36 hours until midnight on Sunday, October 19.
