Kashmir’s higher reaches on Monday woke up to a fresh white cover as several mountain passes and hill stations received the first snowfall of the season, heralding an early onset of winter in the Valley.

Officials from the Meteorological Department said that moderate to light snowfall was recorded in Gulmarg, Gurez, Zojila, Sinthan Top, and Razdan Pass, while the plains witnessed intermittent rainfall. The fresh spell led to a notable drop in both day and night temperatures across the region.
