Authorities say a 33-year-old Hawthorne resident allegedly sent multiple threats on social media

The Culver City Police Department has arrested a Hawthorne man accused of making multiple online threats directed at TikTok’s Culver City headquarters, prompting an evacuation of the facility last week.

Authorities said 33-year-old Joseph Mayuyo allegedly sent threatening messages across several social media platforms. On Friday, Oct. 3, TikTok employees received another threat reportedly made by Mayuyo, leading security officials to evacuate the building as a precaution.

Detectives with the Culver City Police Department (CCPD) launched an investigation in coordination with the department’s Crime Impact Team , Special Enforcement Team , Emergency Response Team , and Crisis
