Severe rainfall in Nepal has triggered landslides and devastating flooding, killing at least 44 people.
Footage filmed by the military in Jhapa district on Sunday showed floodwaters covering large swathes of territory and residents being evacuated.
Local media reported that at least 450 houses had been submerged in the district.
The government said it had deployed helicopters for medical evacuations and ground troops to assist with relocations.
Major highways remained closed, and domestic flights were grounded on Saturday due to poor visibility.
Heavy rain has been falling since Friday in the region, which borders India.
The rainfall comes at the end of Nepal's monsoon season, which typically ends by mid-September.
