INDIANA COUNTY, Pa. —

State police said troopers shot and killed a suspect who fired at them from the roof of his home, which he had set fire to.

A state police release said the incident began at around 5 p.m. Sunday when state troopers were called to the 3000 block of Dixonville Road in the Village of Deckers Point, which is located in Grant Township, Indiana County. Advertisement

The initial report was for an assault but, according to the release, troopers heard that the suspect had fired shots in the area before running to his home and setting a fire inside.

Investigators said the suspect then moved to the roof of the home with a shotgun and fired at troopers below.

Troopers returned fire, killing the suspect.
