In 2022, after he had first run for Virginia attorney general and left the House of Delegates, Jay Jones texted a GOP delegate fantasizing about shooting then-Speaker of the House Todd Gilbert, R-Shenandoah, and about harm coming to Gilbert’s children, according to Del. Carrie Coyner, R-Chesterfield.
The National Review first reported Friday on the string of text messages in which Jones said that if he faced a hypothetical situation with Gilbert, Hitler and Pol Pot and he only had two bullets, Gilbert would get “two bullets to the head.”
