(CNN) — A federal judge in Oregon delivered a second blow Sunday night to the Trump administration’s effort to send National Guard troops to Portland by temporarily blocking federalized members of the National Guard from anywhere in the US being deployed to the state.
The ruling essentially expanded on a more narrow Saturday ruling that blocked the administration from sending Oregon National Guard troops to the city, which President Donald Trump has said is necessary to quell protests at an Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility – a claim strongly disputed by local and state officials.
