Police were called to a hospital where a man in his 30s arrived with a knife wound on September 22.

He self-presented after the attack in the Hounslow area of London.

Al Furqan Education Trust, a charity and community centre in Hounslow, has identified the victim as Imam Sheikh Mohamed Yusuf.

The trust said the religious leader was “the victim of an unprovoked stabbing” in a “deeply distressing incident”.

It added that the motive for the attack “remains unknown”, with police adding that it is keeping an open mind as it investigates.

There have been no arrests.
