Police have issued a tribute to 'one of Warwickshire's most upstanding residents' after the death of Keeping Up Appearances star Dame Patricia Routledge. The actress became a household name thanks to her performance as loveably snooty Hyacinth Bucket.

A huge hit during the 1990s, BBC's Keeping Up Appearances, was watched all over the world. As it was filmed around Coventry and Warwickshire , it became particularly popular among residents in the region.

Warwickshire Police have today issued a tribute on its social media channels, warmly mentioning some of the character traits that made Mrs Bucket, and thus Patricia Routledge, such a beloved figure.

"We're saddened to hear of the passing of Hyacinth Bucket (it's bouquet) - one of Warwickshire's most upstanding residents," the tribute
