QUINCY -- As a program of any level and any sport, you always want to defend your home court, field, course, etc. Quincy High School did that, and did it in great fashion on Saturday at the annual Tom Oakley Invitational that took place at Bob Mays Park. The boys team put up a perfect team score of 15 as the Blue Devils captured the top-five spots in the race.

Gavin Slee had his best three mile race of the season and was overtake teammate Charles Ray down the stretch for his first varsity race victory. Both men raced and pushed each other through the course of the race.

“Gavin and Charles battled back and forth through the race until Gavin started to pull away the last 800m,” said Quincy head coach Laura McClelland.

Slee finished in 16:25.4 with Ray behind him in 16:34.9.
