UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio — Benedictine High School’s homecoming football game against Lutheran East was suspended at halftime Friday night after an alleged altercation occurred at Don Shula Stadium on the John Carroll University campus in University Heights.
According to a statement from the school, the incident involved individuals outside the fenced area surrounding the field and required a response from both security and police.
School officials say Benedictine students and fans were not involved, though some fans were in the surrounding area during halftime.
No injuries have been reported and all fans were asked to leave the stadium. Officials later decided to conclude the game with a final score of 28-7 in favor of Benedictine.
