LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Retired fighter pilot Lt. Col. Amy McGrath announced that she is running for the Senate seat Sen. Mitch McConnell will leave vacant upon his retirement.
McGrath ran against McConnell in 2020 and lost. On Monday, McGrath made the announcement that she is running once more.
“Kentucky deserves a senator with the decency and courage to stand up and speak out for our state. I won’t sit back and watch what’s happening in this country. That’s why I’m running for the U.S. Senate,” McGrath wrote.
McGrath served 20 years in the armed forces and flew combat missions in Iraq and Afghanistan.
