PORTLAND, Ore. (KPTV) - The Portland Police Bureau is investigating a deadly assault that happened in the downtown area Sunday night.

At about 9 p.m., officers were called to a southwest Portland hospital to help with what started as a medical call. PPB says at the hospital, officers learned a man has been injured during an assault about an hour earlier in the 300 block of Southwest 4th Avenue.

PPB says the victim, who has not yet been identified, died from his injuries at about 11 p.m.

Homicide detectives are leading the ongoing investigation. No arrests have been made
