Two people are behind bars after Evansville Police say they were attacked.

45-year-old Ben Washington was pulled over in front of his house while riding his bike for ignoring a stop sign.

Washington attempted to run while being cuffed.

The officer says Washington punched him in the face, elbowed him in the head, poked him in the eye, and tried to choke and bite him.

32-year-old Shanay Cawthorne came out of the house and allegedly threw something, hitting an officer in the chest.

Both were taken to jail.

The officer was treated at the hospital for a scratched eyeball and several cuts and bruises.
