JACKSON COUNTY, OH — The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) has officially dedicated Baker Swamp in Jackson County as Ohio’s 150th State Nature Preserve , marking a major milestone in the state’s ongoing efforts to protect its most treasured natural habitats.

The 181-acre property , donated by The Nature Conservancy (TNC) , features a rare and ecologically rich wetland complex that supports diverse wildlife, including birds, amphibians, and several state-listed plant species.

“Today marks a milestone dedicating Ohio’s 150th State Nature Preserve,” said Governor Mike DeWine . “We have made it a priority to protect our natural resources, and this public-private partnership is a great example of how we can all work together to preserve Ohio’s beautiful lands.”
