Experts say home fires claim seven lives daily in the U.S., and the Red Cross urges residents to regularly test smoke alarms and practice their escape plans. “Home fires can occur any time, any place,” said Emily Holley, Regional Communications Manager, Nebraska-Iowa Red Cross. “The sooner an alarm alerts you to a fire, the sooner you can get out.
