Skygazers, rejoice. We’re about to get close to the moon.
The first supermoon of the season will grace the fall sky Monday night around Pittsburgh.
And it comes as a meteor shower is also expected from Monday through Friday, potentially adding to the viewing pleasure.

What is a supermoon?
A supermoon occurs when the moon is at its closest point to Earth during a full moon phase, making it appear slightly larger to us earthlings, according to NASA.
Supermoons, which occur about three to four times a year, make the moon look up to 14% bigger and 30% brighter than the faintest moon of the year — when it is farthest from Earth in its orbit.
When is the best time to watch the supermoon?
As long as you’re watching before 2 a.m., meteorologists say
