HOUSTON (KIAH) -- According to unofficial statistics released from the Houston Police Department, there were 480 total operations worked related to prostitution in 2021. In addition, those stats showed 76 victims, 65 potential and 144 smuggling.

Though these numbers are from 2021, it's a representation of the alarming rate of sex trafficking in Houston. Today, Houston Millennials along with other Houston advocates such as the YMCA's Trafficking Assistance Program, Blossoming Strength, Hearts of Grace Foundation and others will join outside of Houston City Hall for a Freedom Ride Caravan and press conference.

Ahead of the World Cup next year, concerned citizens said that they're demanding more resources to fight sex trafficking to prepare for the large crowds.
